Just because your water line is out of sight, doesn’t mean it should be out of mind. There are some pretty significant problems that can arise with your water line. Leaks, ruptures and blockages can prevent your water line from functioning properly and these problems can cost you time and money. Luckily, there are three easy signs of when your water line needs to be repaired.
Water in your yard – If it hasn’t been raining and you notice random pools of water beginning to pop up in and around your yard, this is a good indication of a leak in the water line. When a leak or rupture forms in your water line, water escapes from the pipe and comes up through the ground, creating pools of water in your yard.
Low water pressure – A sudden loss of water pressure could mean one of two things; there is a leak in your water line or your water line is clogged. The blockage is easier and more affordable to clear and deal with. The leak in your water line, depending on the size of the leak can be a little more difficult to find. If you suspect you have a leak, call a plumber right away to avoid water damages and get your water pressure back to what it should be.
High water bills – As long as you haven’t increased the water usage in your home, a high water bill is a sign of a leak in your water line. A smaller leak might take a little longer for it to show up on your water bill, but it will do damage to your home and wallet over time. Should you experience a much higher water bill than usual, call a professional so your water line can be repaired.
